Kickflip alternatives: what a 3D configurator changes

The short answer

Kickflip is the most-reviewed dedicated configurator on the Shopify shelf and its no-code builder deserves that. The difference that decides most comparisons is dimensional: Kickflip composites layered 2D artwork — its own buying guide describes it as a 2D product configurator — while Custivo configures real geometry the shopper can rotate, place in their room and, on wearables, try on. Choose Kickflip for flat or photographic products with deep option logic and quote-based selling. Choose Custivo when the thing being configured has a shape.

One plan, two add-ons, and a fee

Kickflip sells a single plan with a per-sale fee that falls as volume rises, and charges separately for white-labelling and for quote-based selling. Ours is a ladder with no fee and no branding on any rung.

Where Kickflip is the better answer

More mileage in option logic

Kickflip has been building no-code configurators since long before it reached Shopify, and the rules engine shows it: conditional options, SKU mapping, inventory sync and dynamic pricing are mature and well documented.

Layered 2D is faster and cheaper to author

A layered configurator needs artwork, not geometry. If your product is already photographed flat and the options are colours, prints and trims, Kickflip gets you live in days with no modelling budget at all — and that is a real advantage, not a consolation.

Configure-price-quote for sales-led products

Kickflip sells a CPQ add-on for products that end in a quote rather than a cart. We have no equivalent, and for a manufacturer selling that way it is the whole requirement.

Where Custivo is the better answer

The product is a model, not a stack of images

Custivo configures actual geometry. The shopper turns it over, sees it at true scale in their own room through AR, and on wearables tries it on. A layered 2D configurator cannot do any of those at any price, because there is nothing behind the image.

White label is not an add-on

Removing another vendor's name from your own storefront costs a second monthly fee on Kickflip, on top of the plan. Custivo's viewer carries one faint grey mark, and switching it off is a setting on every plan — not a paid add-on.

Nothing per order

Kickflip's per-sale fee falls as volume rises but never starts at nothing, and it sits alongside the monthly plan. We do not charge one, on any tier.

So which one

Both lists are honest. If the left column describes your store, install the other app — you will be happier and we would rather you found that out here than after a month of trying.

Choose Kickflip if

Your product is flat or photographic — apparel prints, labels, signage, stationery — and the options are artwork and colour.

You need deep conditional rules or quote-based selling more than you need three dimensions.

You have no 3D models and no budget to commission any.

Choose Custivo if

The product has a shape a customer would want to turn around before buying.

You want the same catalogue working in AR, and tried on where it is worn.

You would rather not pay a separate monthly fee to remove someone else's branding.

Switching from Kickflip

This is the one switch on this page with a real cost, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest: a Kickflip configurator is layered artwork with its rules held in Kickflip, so nothing imports. Moving to Custivo means having a model of the product. If one already exists — most manufacturers have CAD — the rebuild is quick. If it does not, commissioning it is the actual price of the move, and it is worth quoting before you start rather than after.

Your glTF and GLB models import as they are — the modelling work is not repeated.

The same scenes run on Shopify, ikas, Wix, Salla and any other storefront through a script tag.

The trial is long enough to rebuild one product and compare the two side by side before you cancel anything.
